Antoni Harmsen - Candidate Chairman
Hello everyone, my name is Antoni Harmsen and I am the Candidate Chairman of the 65th
Candidate Board of Faculty Association Ibn Battuta! I’m currently in my third year of the
bachelor Spatial Planning and Design and have enjoyed my time here in Groningen from the
very first day. Originally from Leiden and having lived in Slovakia, The Hague, India and Utrecht, my interest in spatial sciences comes from the many places I’ve been.
Since joining Ibn Battuta, I’ve been part of the Sustainability and Society committee and the
Projectgroup Dies as well as joining in on the amazing activities and even the legendary BEC to Morocco!
In my spare time I like to exercise, hang out with friends and be socially active. I am very excited to start this next year within the association and hope to see you all at activities or in the coffee room!
Marieke de Jong - Candidate Secretary
Hi everyone, my name is Marieke de Jong and I am proud to be the Candidate Secretary of the 65th Candidate Board of Ibn Battuta! I’m 19 years old and currently in my second year of Spatial Planning and Design, which I enjoy very much. After living in a quiet town called Leek for my entire life, I have been enjoying life in Groningen for over a year now. After joining the
Association, I became an active member in the Sports and Games Committee, which was an
amazing experience. My involvement in the Lecture Committee is keeping me just as
enthusiastic to be an active member. In my free time, I like to go inline skating, spend time with friends, and every now and then when I feel creative I like to draw. I of course can’t forget about my miniature farm in the windowframe, even though most of it died during the BEC. I am more than excited for the upcoming year, and hope to see all of you at the upcoming activities and in the Coffee Room!
Calida Vos - Candidate Treasurer
I am Calida Vos and I am currently in my 3rd year of Spatial Planning and Design. I am very
excited to be candidate Treasurer and I am looking forward to contributing to the association in the upcoming year! I am originally from the province of Groningen, from Delfzijl, and I have
always felt closely connected to the region. Living in Groningen now feels like a natural
extension of that. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, painting, drawing and baking. I also like going for walks or grabbing a coffee with a friend. Over the past years I have actively contributed to the association in the Excursion Committee, the Foreign Excursion Committee and the Projectgroup Introduction Period. Which I all loved as they were an opportunity to develop skills, but also gain a lot of friendships.
Hidde Bos - Candidate Commissioner Internal Relations
My name is Hidde Bos and I am 22 years old. Currently, I am in my second year of Spatial
Planning & Design. I’m very excited to be the Candidate Commissioner Internal Relations. I am originally from a town on the Veluwe called Eerbeek. I have lived and studied in various cities across the country before finally finding my home in Groningen with Ibn Battuta.
Over the past years, I have been involved in the association through the Excursion Committee, the Wintersport Committee and the Career Day FSS. Outside of my studies I play football at G.S.V.V. The Knickerbockers and regularly go for runs to stay energized. I strive to fill every evening of the week with company of friends or committee work.
As your Candidate Commissioner Internal Relations, I am committed to upholding the open
minded and embracing culture that Ibn Battuta is known for. If you have a question or just want to chat, feel free to contact me or approach me any time.
